Principal's Message

Welcome to an exciting new year at Ceres School. I am confident that by working collaboratively, this will be a successful year for your child.

Ceres School is a K-5 school with an enrollment of approximately 350 students. Our school offers a quality program designed to meet the unique and challenging needs of our student population. Support services provided by Learning Specialist, Learning Center, Psychologist, Counselor, Adaptive P.E. and Speech/Language Specialist. The Ceres School staff is committed to supporting the following goals:

• All students will reach high academic standards.
  

• All Limited-English proficient students will become proficient in English.
  

• All students will be educated in learning environment that is safe, drug-free and conductive to learning.
  

The Ceres staff continues to work hard in planning a strong instructional program. We continue to implement the Ceres Curriculum Alignment Plan in language arts. In an effort to ensure that students master grade level content standards we identified “high stake” standards in each unit and aligned them with our reading instructional program. Through our teaching, assessment and evaluation of student work we are confident that student learning will be enhanced. During the 2008 – 2009 school year, we will also be implementing the Ceres Curriculum Alignment Plan in math. The staff has developed a long range instructional calendar to focus on math content standards. We are very excited about this and we are confident that student achievement in math will continue to increase.
