Ensuring that ALL 7800 of our students are prepared for success in high school and beyond is our ultimate goal in the East Whittier City School District.  Our dedicated support staff, teachers, administrators and Board of Education work tirelessly day in and day out to achieve our vision of “Opening the Door to Every Child’s Future.”

  • 10 Elementary Schools

    EWCSD’s excellent elementary schools provide a well-rounded, personalized, and engaging educational experience to nurture and develop our youngest learners. A broad course of study in which Art, Music, STEM, and Physical Education are offered to nurture the talents and interests of students and develop 21st century skills ensuring students become innovative and adaptable learners.

  • 3 Middle Schools

    EWCSD’s outstanding middle schools provide a comprehensive and supportive educational experience during a crucial period of students’ academic and personal development. Our middle school programs include opportunities for students to engage in rigorous, 21st century learning experiences to ensure they are well-informed and well-prepared for college, career, and future educational and professional journeys.

  • test 3 National Blue Ribbon Schools

    Leffingwell Elementary and Ocean View Elementary have been recognized as 2023 National Blue Ribbon Schools by the U.S Department of Education. Earning the National Blue Ribbon distinction is a prestigious honor and is a reflection of our schools’ ability to demonstrate academic excellence and close achievement gaps. The National Blue Ribbon distinction is considered the highest honor a public school can achieve. Leffingwell has earned this recognition for the second time, while Ocean View received National Blue Ribbon honors for the first time.

    This state recognition represents outstanding and quality educational programs.

  • test 4 Gold Ribbon Schools

    This honor is awarded to schools that demonstrate outstanding achievements in implementing state standards.

  • test 7 U.S News and World Report Best Schools

    Schools ranked in the U.S News and World Report demonstrate excellence in mathematics and reading/language arts.

  • test 13 Silver PBIS Awards

    Each EWCSD school site has received state recognition for their exceptional implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). In total, thirteen schools received the silver award and one received bronze. PBIS is a framework designed to improve student behavior, create a safe and supportive school climate, and enhance the overall learning experience for all students by reinforcing positive behaviors.

  • test 1 CSBA Golden Bell Award

    EWCSD has won the 2023 Golden Bell Award for Student Leadership. The District is committed to the development of student leadership and student voice in the decision making process as part of the greater vision to develop 21st Century Learners. The Board of Education and staff recognize that in order to develop critical thinkers, effective communicators, collaborative learners, and creative minds, students must view themselves as an integral, important part of the community.
